Orange Pekoe (OP) is a premium whole-leaf grade of Ceylon black tea, known for one of the smoothest, lighter cups. Ours is a single-estate OP from Pettiagalla Estate in Balangoda, Uva, Sri Lanka—gardens established in 1880, with about 329 hectares under tea. The leaf is larger and well twisted, with a forest-like aroma; the liquor is light golden-reddish with a delicate taste. Allow a slightly longer steep than broken grades. Pettiagalla Estate
This Orange Pekoe is a single-estate Ceylon black tea from Pettiagalla Estate in Balangoda, Uva. The gardens date from 1880 and remain a dedicated tea plantation of about 329 hectares.
OP is a whole-leaf grade: longer, well-twisted leaf that infuses more slowly than broken grades, giving a lighter golden-red liquor and a smooth, forest-like cup. It is the same Uva character you expect from this range, named to the estate rather than sold as a generic blend.

How to brew
- Leaf — 2 g for 200 ml of water (about a teaspoon per cup).
- Water — fresh water at 95°C, just off the boil.
- Time — steep 3–5 minutes; the larger OP leaf needs a little longer than broken grades.
- Serve — drink plain to taste the lighter liquor, or add a splash of milk if you prefer.

A fine example of an Orange Pekoe
The flavour is excellent and certainly surpasses the other brands have tried. There is an underlying sweetness to it and a hint of a fruity aroma that make this a very relaxing drink.
